Sharjah, renowned for its elegant mosques and museums, have been tagged as UAE’s cultural capital. Our tour starts at the University city of Sharjah since 1998 (photo stop). Afterwards we pass by the International Airport, both boasting of the unique Islamic architectures. Passing through the popular Cultural Palace Roundabout with the Quran Monument, noted as one of the emirate’s treasure.
Next the Museum of Islamic Civilization Known locally as the Souq al-Majarrah, and situated on the picturesque Sharjah Creek, the complex first opened its doors to visitors in the spring of 1987. It immediately became a popular landmark, both among the people of Sharjah themselves and visiting tourists, due to its impressive architecture and attractive design features. In ground-plan and décor, the Souq al-Majarrah was the first of its kind in the Gulf region to use traditional, Arab-Islamic design elements. Its most outstanding feature, however, has always been its majestic, gilt central dome, decorated on the inside with an intricate mosaic depicting the night sky and the signs of the zodiac.
Aside from these great architectural and cultural spectacles, great bargains can be found on our stops at famous Souks such as the Al Arsah Souk – the oldest souk in the UAE.
Then a walk through the rich Fish market, well bring you closer to the traditional bargaining and how fish get prepared before they brought back home. Few meters away is the very known Central Market of Sharjah “ Blue Souk” as a final stop. You’ll be able to have a great chance to shop wither Gold, Hand Made carpets from Persia or central Asia, Souvenirs or even digital cameras all under one roof for great deals.
