A classic Mt. Kilimanjaro climb along the Machame route. Before the climb, we'll have a safari in Arusha National Park. After the descent, we'll celebrate, cook, dance, carve, brew banana beer and more with the Chagge in their village of Marangu.
Your Itinerary
To acclimatize our participants for the ultimate challenge of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the expedition begins with a safari in Arusha National Park to explore this prime habitat for elephant, giraffe, hyena, leopard, hippo, buffalo, and monkeys.
Following the scenic Machame Route, we'll begin our exhilarating climb up the world’s tallest free-standing mountain to the “roof of Africa”. Kilimanjaro is a non-technical ascent, making it accessible to a wide range of adventurers. Camping at night with a full support staff of porters to carry gear and prepare delicious meals, we pass through a different ecosystem each day: lush forest, moorlands and alpine zones. We will rise early on the morning of our summit challenge, to view the sunrise from Stella Point before stepping onto 19,340-foot Uhuru Peak—the highest point in Africa!
Returning to the base of the mountain to celebrate our accomplishments, we'll set our sights on the village of Marangu for the next several days, living with local families in their homes and exploring the Chagga culture. Under the guidance of master artisans, we'll learn to craft the long spears prized by the neighboring Masaai warriors, carve wooden figurines using traditional tools, and cook our own traditional Chagga dishes. We'll even brew mbege banana beer and have a farewell celebration—a memorable event filled with traditional Chagga song and dance!
