On this family-focused itinerary, kids will be fascinated with the sights and sounds of East Africa’s abundant wildlife which few will ever have seen outside a zoo. This five-day safari adventure introduces participants to the vast Serengeti Plains, Lake Manyara, and Ngorongoro Crater joining the parade of amazing wildlife… from gangly giraffes to zany zebras to lurking lions. We’ve also planned plenty of recreational activities and downtime—adults and kids alike will appreciate the spacious family-style tents and safari activity books.
Adventures with a cultural twist take center stage in Marangu where participants spend time among the Chagga people as an overnight guest in their homes or for the day. Either way, you’ll be greeted with bedtime stories from a traditional Chagga storyteller. While kids apply their creative minds to batik making and banana fibre art or head off to school with their peers (parents can go too!), adults are free to try their hands at woodcarving or brewing traditional mbege banana beer. One afternoon, you will be invited to cook your own Chagga lunch with the villagers.
This adventure is a great opportunity to share with young family members how children and families live halfway around the world. They’ll see how different—yet how similar—life can be for their peers. A special way to spend time together, this safari adventure creates unforgettable memories for every generation.
